Our story

Personal trainers work hard, but admin can be even harder.

Why we built this app

One of us sold blocks of training sessions: Luke. One of us bought them: Alan. And a key number, how many sessions were left, lived somewhere between a Notes app and a WhatsApp thread. Some blocks the client came out ahead, some the trainer did, and neither ever knew which.

The usual tools didn’t help. They’re built for an online coach selling programmes to strangers, priced per client, for clients hungry for hours of video before they can raise a single invoice. Nothing was built for a trainer already hard at work on the floor.

So we built an app for trainers that always knows. Your admin, on autopilot: sessions counted, payments chased, invoices raised, one honest total, and not a spreadsheet or a Sunday night headache in sight. A touch of wellness by automating the admin pain away.

More to come

We’ve also seen the same issues across health and wellness. The dance instructor with a hall of regulars, the therapist with a block of sessions, the hairdresser or nail technician with a book of appointments.

Different work, but the same admin pain, and the same hours lost to it. So we will build our app for everyone who works for themselves looking after other people’s health and wellness and gets buried in the admin that comes with it, so they can get back the time they need to do more of their good work and feel good about it along the way.

But that’s for later. First and foremost, right now, WELX is for personal trainers.

Four people, and a town.

Two of us started it, two of us are taking it out to the world, and the vibe of a British town is behind why we do things our own way.

Built the app, and spent a career in marketing. Wrote the first version, owns the company, and is the client in the story above, a client of Luke, and still training with him.

Alan's trainer, and the reason WELX does what you need as a trainer and nothing you don't need. The two of them argued it out between sessions on the gym floor. Now Luke's out firing up the first trainers to join, the spark that gets it moving.

AdamFounding Head of Growth

Spent years building brands inside the biggest creative agencies, and is now putting that behind our app for personal trainers. He's also the reason it's called WELX, when we needed a name.

ErinFounding Head of Audience

PR and media by trade, from a family in the wellness world. She manages our brand's 'voice' in places like social media where trainers go, and builds our audience one channel at a time.

We’re made in the UK, in Brighton, not a person, but a town with form for doing things its own way, independent, a bit contrary, and proud of it. The Brighton vibe is part of why WELX was built and developed quickly on its own terms, with no committee to slow it up and no good idea ignored.

Small, fast, and close to the floor.

We move at the speed of one good idea. A trainer’s suggestion can be live the same week, with no committee to clear it first. That same instinct is behind the first 500 trainers getting WELX free for life.
